*Really* a slacker this time...

So, last time I posted was in July. Who cares. No one reads me anyway. LOL. Anyway, I had the baby in November. I can c&p a birth story...hold on...here it is:

Monday (November 20) at 5:40 am I woke up feeling a little nauseaus and felt a small gush of fluid shortly after. I got up to go to the bathroom and while I was in there had a contraction. This contraction went from my back straight through to my front, none of this period-like cramp that I had been having. This was painful. I got back in bed and had another and told Clayton that we weren't going anywhere that day. He thought I meant we weren't going to the hospital, but I quickly let him know that it was work that we weren't going to. While I showered, he got Andrew up and got him dressed and then got in the shower himself. We took Andrew to daycare, stopped at the gas station for batteries (the ones in the camera weren't charged), and headed for the hospital. My contractions were coming about 4 to 5 minutes apart. The triage nurse checked me and I was still 2 cm. She also checked to see if my water had broken. The paper turned blue, so she knew I was at least leaking if not broken. She paged the on-call doctor who admitted me. (I was in pain at this point and told the nurse that the doctor had better admit me). The nurse checked me again and I was at a 3. They drew blood and told me that as soon as the blood work came back I could go ahead and get the epidural. I was told 15 minutes, tops. It was about 7:50 at this point. (My admission time was 7:40). I get moved to my L&D room and settled in around 8:10 or so. By the time my blood work came back I had progressed to a 5 and it was about 8:45 - 9:00. Not real sure on the times because my contractions were coming right on top of each other and I was in the fetal position hollering for the epidural. At one point Clayton told me that it was coming and I said it wasn't coming fast enough and that they wanted me to be in pain. I was rather vocal through these contractions and when the epi man came in, the nurse told me that I would have to calm down so he could do his job. They sat me up which actually helped me breathe through the contractions better. Once the epi was in place I was good. Progressed pretty quickly to a 9 and then stalled. I rested from 11:30 or so until about 1:30ish. I pushed through 3 contractions and the dr wasn't ready. I could feel that Kristin was ready, and one of the nurses literally put her hand against me to keep her from coming out. When the dr was ready, I waited for another contraction, but Kristin came out without me pushing. She was born at 1:43 pm, was 7 lbs 14 oz, and was 21" long. She latched on right away and has been nursing ever since. We had to stay an extra night because her bilirubin was a little elevated.

So, she'll be 5 months old tomorrow. Still nursing great. Still waking all night long. But, Andrew did the same, so I'll live through it.

I now have a new job. Well, new as far as anyone who used to read my blog is concerned. I've been working at the kids' daycare since the middle of January. It wears me out, but is rewarding. I love that I am in the same building with Kristin all day. When she's ready to eat, all I do is switch places with one of the infant room teachers to nurse her. I'm much closer to home. And, this is the biggie, FREE childcare. That's right. I don't have to pay for my kids to be there any more AND I get a paycheck for it. Love it.

Anyway, I'm getting sleepy, so I'm off for now.
