Oh. My. Goodness.

I have an interview tomorrow morning at 10:00 with the principal of the middle school I'd like to teach in. The school is in the next district over from where we live. They're building a new building right down the road from Andrew's daycare. Right down the road as in I can see the building from his daycare. It would be perfect! If anyone still reads my blog (doubtful), please think about me in the morning!

Recent happenings

It's been awhile. I had my ultrasound in June. Everything looks good, and we're having a girl. Her name will be Kristin Elizabeth. Andrew is excited about having a baby sister.

I had an interview last week with one of the school districts around here. It went well. The only problem is that there are no openings at the moment. The woman who interviewed me said that she'll keep my name in the pool of teacher names to give to principals who need teachers. She also said that they share names with other districts. Hopefully something will open up in the next couple of weeks.

Vacation was great. We had dinner with a friend of mine who is now a pastor. We also had dinner with a couple friends of mine from college. The Naval Air Museum was great this year. Andrew absolutely loved it. He ran from one airplane to another telling Clayton to look at this, look at that. We spent a few hours at the beach. Absolutely gorgeous. The temperature was perfect. The only problem I had was throwing out my hip while walking back up to the parking lot. I had a rough time walking the rest of the night. We went to the fireworks also. It was the best show I've seen in awhile. And the ashes didn't blow all over us this year.

Other than that, not much else is going on.

Updates

**Ultrasound and next doctor's appointment is June 26 at 8:30. We should be able to find out what the baby is that day.
**Morning sickness is pretty much gone.
**I've started feeling the baby move.
**Praxis score came Saturday. I needed a 155 and got a 180. Applications are in for various school districts.
**I'm singing a solo Sunday morning. ACK! It's short...2 phrases...but still! A SOLO. Singing. Not flute.
**VBS starts June 25. I'm helping with the 4th and 5th graders this year instead of the 4 and 5 year olds.
**Vacation starts July 1.

That's all I know for now...

So, it's getting toward the end of May

I am such a slacker. I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks and a couple days. One baby. Date was right on. Next appointment is a week from today. I'll be 14 weeks and a couple days. Should get to schedule my 'big' ultrasound while I'm at that appointment.

What else has happened...I took the Praxis on the 29th of April. My score will be mailed out on May 30th. I've filled out an online application and have printed out another for 2 districts. Both have openings for Middle School Language Arts.

Vacation has been scheduled for the week of July 4th. We'll be in Pensacola again. No plans as of yet, but we'll be there.

My youngest BIL leaves for army reserve boot camp tomorrow. He'll be gone for 19 weeks. I'm sad I won't get to go to his graduation (in Missouri) because I'll be too close to my due date.

Ummm, I thought my morning sickness was gone, but today proved me WRONG. It was completely my fault, though, because I didn't want my breakfast, so I didn't eat it. Bad move.

Quick update...

I am now 8.5 weeks pregnant. I have an appointment May 1 with an ultrasound for 'dating' purposes, in quotes because I'm absolutely positive on my dates. When I was in at 6 weeks, the doctor said I felt bigger than 6 weeks, so he wanted to do an ultrasound.

My in-laws will be here sometime that afternoon. They'll be flying in from Argentina and then driving from Atlanta here. They'll be here for 2 weeks. The big purpose of their visit is because Clayton and Lin will be graduating from college. Woohoo!

Absolutely gorgeous day

The temperature is perfect, the sun is shining, and the birds are singing. Andrew and I outside right now. He's riding his tricycle and I'm just relaxing. The 3 of us went out for ice cream this afternoon. We haven't even eaten supper yet. The roast is in the crockpot, and is probably done, but none of us are hungry at the moment. Clayton is napping before he has to go into work. We'll probably end up eating around 7 or so...unless I start to feel the need to eat before then. I'm finding that as long as I eat before I get *too* hungry then I'm fine. I haven't actually thrown up yet, but the nausea started super early this time...like before I even got a positive test. My biggest problem is being tired. No one told me that I would be more tired the 2nd time around, what with having a 3 year old running around to keep up with. That didn't even cross my mind that I wouldn't get to rest as much as I did when I was pregnant with him. I could use a nap right now. I got to sleep in until 7:30 this morning and I had about a 2 hour nap this afternoon, but I could easily sleep again now. So, I've got what? about 7 more weeks or so to go deal with this? I'm 6 weeks today.

Oh! I forgot!

My other big news is that I was accepted to the PACE program. Now I've got to pass a test (PRAXIS) and get a job. Whoo. Lots of changes in the next few months.

Official due date is November 26. Had all my blood work today and the 'official' pregnancy test done. I go back on April 4 for a 'head to toe' exam.

One more thing...prenatal vitamins are NASTY. That's all.

And then...

There were 2. Two lines, that is. Yep, I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday! EDD is right around Thanksgiving.

Whew.

I just completed my 4th Firm workout. Yeah, I started it up again. I'm loving it this time around. I've got so much more energy now that I'm eating better and working out. No visible results yet, but I'm holding my head higher and walking a little sassier. ;) I *feel* better than I have in a long time. Here's to keeping it up and looking great!

Thursday, February 23, 2006

I started working out again Tuesday night. I did one The Firm DVD. Oh my goodness. I forgot how hard those things are just starting out. I am still sore today. I plan on repeating the same DVD tonight to try to get a little more of it in. Next week I'll start a different DVD. The great thing about working out Tuesday night was that I felt GREAT yesterday when I got up. Today, eh, not so much.

I have a busy evening tonight.
*Cook and eat supper
*Take a meal to a family that has a 2 week old baby
*Practice flute solo at accompanist's house
*Get Andrew in bed
*Work out
*Shower
*Transcription work
*Bed

Yeah, I'm gonna be rushed. That's okay, though. The weekend is coming up! We have a babysitter for tomorrow night, so we're going out. Not a clue where we're going yet. I'm trying to figure out somewhere yummy.

Friday, February 17, 2006

So, um,

I POAS tonight. Negative. I'm not surprised. Disappointed, of course, but not surprised. Maybe a December baby?

So, it's been a month...

Things at work have been crazy lately. We've been getting tons of work orders and I've been scheduling waaay in advance for 3 weeks now. This week hasn't been *as* bad as the 2 previous. I still haven't heard anything about the PACE program yet. I think I may still have about 6 weeks before my application should be finished processing.

What else? My best friend is pregnant. Congratulations Leslie! I'm excited for her. This will be her 3rd child. I cried when she told me...about a month ago...because I had just found out that I wasn't pregnant. Again. I am now in the phase of do I test? Do I wait for AF to show? I'm not feeling pregnant, but I didn't feel pregnant with Andrew until I started having morning sickness. Right now, I think I'm gonna wait a couple more days. Oh, you want symptoms real or imagined? Okay. Gasiness. Could be something I ate. Feeling of fullness. Could be bloated. Off and on nausea. Could be from sinus drainage. No AF. Ha. I'm only on cycle day 26. I could go up to 35 or so. However, EWCM was sighted on cycle day 13. My LP is 11 days. IF I ovulated on 14 to 17 (my guess because when I saw EWCM when I got pregnant with Andrew, I ovulated 3 days later), then I would only go up to day 28. That's Sunday. So, again, do I test or do I wait? Pffft. I dunno.

Other news. We worked on our budget last night. YUCK. I hate doing the budget. It was desperately needed though. We've decided to use our tax return to pay off Clayton's car. That will take a payment out of our monthy cycle. Woohoo! IF we stick to the budget then by about June we should start having extra money (how? I don't have the slightest idea, but MS Money says we should, so it MUST be true). And? We won't have to use my transcription money for the bills. We can use it for going out to eat and for shopping. Maybe for vacations. I'd love to start a Christmas Club account with our Credit Union so Christmas shopping will be easier.

More company.

I get myself recovered from having MIL here for 2 weeks. (Not staying with us, but she did keep Andrew 2 days when he had RSV and couldn't go to daycare). She left on a Monday. My friend, Angela, came the following Thursday and was here until Sunday. NOW, my cousin and her family are coming in from Kentucky Sunday night and will be staying with us Monday night and going home Tuesday. Very quick trip for them. I'm looking forward to seeing them since the last time we saw them was in October in DC for her brother's wedding. I think that will be all our company until March when my parents come up for a weekend. I'll probably be company in April when I (hopefully) go to Florida to see my family and my best friend who will be at her parents' house from California. I really go to see her since she does live in California. My parents understand that. I should probably do some straightening up or something since R & E will be here day after tomorrow. I should probably also check to see how much transcription work I have this weekend....

You might be a true Pensacolian if you...

~ Know that a Blue Angel is a pilot, not a heavenly being. True, true.

~ Don't even give a screaming roadside preacher a second glance. Ha!

~ Accept that you are the only people in the country who toss mullet AND eat them. Mmmm, mullet.

~ Support Frank Patti unconditionally.* What other choice is there now?
~ Know which bathroom to go into at McGuire's Irish Pub.

~ Pour your Bushwhacker out on the boardwalk, to avoid Pensacola Christian College students.

~ Know that, when traveling on I-110 and you get static over the radio, the "Hot Doughnuts Now" light is on at Krispy Kreme.

~ Know these street names in order and know they are actually the same
road: Saufley Field Road, Michigan Avenue, Beverly Parkway, Brent Lane,
Bayou Boulevard, and Perry Avenue, and, don't forget Mobile Highway,
Cervantes Street, Scenic Highway, Highway 90. Added bonus if you can
explain it to a visitor or tourist! Ha! I've driven from one end of the other on both of those!

~ Eat fried mullet. Yum. My dad's is the best.

~ Cried when you learned that J's bakery was closing and you celebrated upon its reopening. Not quite, BUT I could go for an iced cookie right about now, a smiley face, por favor.

~ Think a graffiti covered bridge is actually a local landmark, instead of a vandalized eyesore. I should go by that bridge next time I'm home.

~ Kissed the moose.

~ Know the Oyster Bar is closed on Tuesdays.

~ Start most of your directions by saying "turn left at Jerry's Drive-In."

~ Know not to wear a tie to Mesquite Charlie's. Oh yum.

~ Must drive on at least three roads undergoing construction wherever you go. Ha!

~ Call a drive to Nine Mile Road a "road trip." It just about is.

~ Still call a certain intersection "The Circle."

~ Still call the corner of Garden and Alcaniz "The Sheraton."

~ Know that you had better pull over for funeral processions. Definitely. This brought tears to my eyes when my Grandpa died.

~ Know that, when arriving in Gulf Breeze from the 3-Mile Bridge, you immediately do the posted 35-mph speed limit and honor that speed limit through Gulf Breeze proper. Yup.

~ Have gotten a speeding ticket in Gulf Breeze. Nope.

~ Go to the beach over the Navarre bridge instead of the Gulf Breeze bridge, to save a buck in tolls.

~ Prefer county commission or school board meetings to WWF Smackdown, because there's more action. Ha!

~ Subscribe to the News Journal only to keep up with the latest on the Escambia County School Board.

~ Explain to visitors that it is not the harbor they smell, but the Main Street sewage treatment plant. (That's right, folks, it's right there on MAIN Street.) Look for the little house.

~ Would never drive to the beach to the Blue Angels show, preferring to go by boat instead. Ah, haven't made it to a Blue Angels show at the beach. Did see one on base, though.

~ Arrange your social calendar around Blue Angels weekends.

~ Think the four seasons are "almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas." Amen!

~ Know Roy Jones has a chicken house.

~ Call Scenic Highway "The Bluffs." Yep.

~ Moved back to Pensacola more than three times. Haven't done that even once...

~ Have been asked to join every world religion while enjoying an evening in Seville Square.

~ Attend Thursday night summer concerts in the park, enduring blazing heat and 98% humidity.

~ Know the correct pronunciation of Texar Drive, Reus, Bobe, and Brainerd Streets. You mean some people don't?

~ Still call Perdido Beach "Gulf Beach."

~ Have waited in line for over an hour when a new chain restaurant comes to town.

~ Know at least 3 people involved in the Sandshaker scandal.

~Have witnessed at least 5 cars running a red light at any given intersection. Only everytime I go home.

~You own a generator and have a year's supply of water and gas stockpiled for next year's hurricane season. That would be my parents.

~ Remember when Pensacola Beach didn't resemble Beirut. This, I do.

~Continue to rebuild after every hurricane because why would you live anywhere else?

Good News!

My niece, Jessica Caitlin, was born Tuesday, January 3. She's a sweetheart.

Andrew is now 3. His birthday was January 4. We had a party for him on the 31st. We had a great time.

My friend, Angela, arrived on the 5th. We've been hanging out and talking. A lot of talking.

Last, and truly the best, my brother and his wife are pregnant! They've been TTC for their first child for over 2 years. I am SO, SO excited for them! Congratulations J & A!

I'm a freak.

I hate 'weather,' especially if there's a chance it will be bad weather. At the moment, we're about to have some severe thunderstorms rolling through. I'm home with Andrew while Clayton is out driving a car in it. I have 3 different weather things up as well as Desktop Weather. Yup. I'm a freak.

I go back to work tomorrow. Andrew goes back to daycare. He's been out for a week sick. I kept him out today because I had a holiday today and because my MIL was going back to Argentina today. Her flight was supposed to leave at 5:52 this afternoon, but when we got to the airport (at 3:30) it had been delayed to 7:10. I just checked the airport website and it was just now boarding. They're supposed to leave at 800 now. I hope they get to leave with the storm that's about to roll through. Supposed to be getting wind gusts up to about 40 mph. Yuck. This is so not January weather. This is more like spring weather. Whew. That one shook the house. Not fun.
